Soil Culture
Between August 2014 and June 2015 the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World (CCANW) initiated 12 Soil Culture artist residencies. Taking place across the South West of the UK and beyond the residencies provided dedicated time for experimentation, research and the development of new work.
The resulting work was shown in a touring exhibition. I assisted with the setting up of the exhibition and associated weekend workshops in Bristol and was mentored by Clive Adams (Founder and Director of CCANW). I co-designed and co-made the banner Soil Culture Banner used during walks and at the exhibition, photographed some of the events and exhibition. Some of my photos are published in the book Soil Culture - Bringing the arts down to Earth
Initiated by the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World (CCANW), Soil Culture was a three year programme which revealed how arts and culture explore the vital, ecological importance of soil.
Soil Culture demonstrated the UK contribution to the United Nations International Year of Soils, 2015 and together we wrote the first ever manifesto for soil, Bristol Manifesto for the Declaration of Soils
