Hanham Shine A Light
I organised this event voluntarily as I had recently moved to a new neighbourhood and felt I wasn’t part of the community. It was 2020 and had been a miserable year because of the Covid Lockdown. The idea was to cheer up the otherwise dark and cold evenings in December with fun and light, in the form of decorated windows. There is no theme so the possibilities were endless! My son decided on Christmas dinosaurs for his window! Other people opted for slightly more conventional Christmas ideas.
Everyone in the community was invited to take part by decorating their window and/or coming out to look at what others have created.
People taking part were asked to turn on their lights between 6-8pm on the evenings of the trail to show off their window creations.
Local traders and schools also got involved and the local church held an exhibition inspired by the trail.
