I’m a mother, artist, gardener, Forest Therapy Practitioner, and facilitator of arts for wellbeing and social change.
My work spans education, community, and healthcare settings, where I use creativity and nature connection to support mental and physical wellbeing.
Many of my projects have empowered individuals and communities to find their voice, using the arts as a tool for supporting wellbeing, expression, and connection. My approach is grounded in the belief that creativity and nature—together—offer powerful pathways to personal and collective wellbeing.
Through Rootsartnature, I offer nature-based creative workshops and outdoor nature connection experiences. These sessions draw on the concept of Biophilia—our innate human connection to nature—and encourage reflection, connection, and care for ourselves, each other, and the planet.
Inspired by the National Centre for Creative Health, my work reflects a growing shift in how we understand health: as something nurtured through creativity, community, and care for the natural world.
Creativity and art naturally create a space for the exploration and expression of our relationship to the natural environment. The more we are with and in nature, working creatively in it and with it, we create a space of reflection about how we look after ourselves and our communities. We begin to literally and metaphorically plant seeds of hope for ourselves and our communities.
Using nature connection and creative activities, we can help to bring awareness of ecological and environmental issues including how and why we might want to care for nature. In turn this can improve our own wellbeing, sense of self and place and support ongoing pro-nature activities in the communities we live in.
